Exuma Kitesurfing was launched in 2007 by Gary Sweeting to offer Kiteventures, kiteboarding lessons, and active sightseeing. Gary is a IKO and PASA level 2 kiteboarding instructor, advanced kiteboarder, graphic designer, and photographer, who also draws on his experience as a former expert windsurfer, snowboard instructor, amateur mountain bike racer, and professional motorcycle road racer.

"I started kitesurfing in 2001 in Grand Bahama. I was one of only a few people kiteboarding in the Bahamas back then, and instructors were scarce, so I taught myself ... not recommended!". I had visited Exuma twice before on photo shoots for design projects. We worked sunrise to sunset every day. Most of the shooting was on or near the water, and I was astounded by the conditions I saw. I promised myself I'd return with my kiting gear and did. Exuma delivered glassy flats, sandbar rollers, and waves in the most stunning natural beauty I'd ever kited in! I would sit in my studio logged on to iKitesurf.com during the frigid winter in Washington DC, and watch it blow for weeks on end in Exuma, wishing I was back home in the Bahamas.
